Born in Switzerland in 1986, Jannine Helbling has lived since 1987 with her family on Ibiza. From 2004 to 2007 she studied at Ibiza’s Escola d’Arts i Oficis and received a degree in plastic arts and clothing model-making. She also successfully completed an apprenticeship in Tony Bonet’s design studio. In 2008 Jannine designed a logo for her line and decided to set out in quest of her dream: channel her creativity and fantasy into design and the world of fashion.
Jannine Helbling draws her clothing’s inspiration from Ibiza’s ambient multiculturalism, the ancient Mediterranean Sea and traditional Ibiza architecture. As a designer, Helbling often works with asymmetry. She uses silks and other tissues to finesses her structurally-inspired cuts, offering her freedom to forgo needlework but still play with volume.
In 2009, the emerging young designer was tapped by Adlib’s organising committee to exhibit her work on the runway.
