Born on Ibiza in 1982 to Andalusian parents, Isabel Castellar is one of those designers with fashion in her DNA. She was raised amid needles, sewing machines, knitting machines, wools and endless quantities of fabrics. Having learnt the basic tricks of the trade from her mother, she honed her craft across an assortment of schools.
Five years ago she opened her own workshop, where she continues to work daily to fill customer orders. Getting to know her clients and adapting her creations to their needs is one of her goals. To this romantic dreamer, fashion is part style, part personality, part good taste, part feeling.
To hear Isabel Castellar tell it, Adlib is a spirit and lifestyle that every resident of Ibiza carries inside. She says it’s a concept which, in the world of fashion, is synonymous with purity, history, bygone culture. We give it all the occasional touch of newness, while not forgetting to be faithful to our roots.
In Isabel’s words, the Adlib of today is light years away from what it was at the start. Call it a lifestyle or a manner of dressing; it works whether you’re nipping down to buy bread, bound for the beach, with dinner plans or headed for the club.
