A family dedicated to Ibiza jewellery, the Pomars have been in the traditional Ibiza jewellery business since 1850, when Elisa’s great-grandfather was nicknamed “El Joyero del Rey” (“The King’s Jeweller”) given that he crafted accessories for Alfonso XIII’s mistresses. From a tender age Elisa watched her grandfather and father produce Ibiza jewellery in a locale that served the dual purpose of boutique and workshop. Enamoured with the art form, she decided to travel to Palma de Mallorca to study jewellery.
Elisa Pomar got her start early in the world of jewellery. By 18 she had opened her own shop in Ibiza’s La Marina neighbourhood. She has logged a great deal of experience and been featured in the top worldwide campaigns and runway shows of Dolce&Gabbana.
Never before has Ibiza jewellery held the spotlight so firmly. Recent years had seen traditional jewellery all but relegated to the homegrown dance performances. Then, starting with the 2010 launch of a succession of new collections, the company orchestrated a masterful feat by restoring the pride felt by the wearers of such jewellery. Today, traditional jewellery works for any occasion.
For seven years, Elisa Pomar has been one of the top jewellery lines at Pasarela Adlib. The firm was recently awarded the Ibiza Council’s gold medal and given a special distinction from the Ibiza and Formentera chamber of commerce.
